Recovery Lounge In Houston

Cold Plunge
Cold plunge uses cold-water immersion as part of an exercise recovery routine. At Fan Club, our temperature-controlled plunge is available in the Recovery Lounge in Houston, giving you access to cold-water recovery at the same location where you train.
One of its better-supported benefits is helping reduce muscle soreness after strenuous exercise. Research has found that cold-water immersion can reduce soreness and improve how recovered people feel the following day, particularly after high-intensity activity. The effects vary with the exercise performed, water temperature and time spent immersed.
Your training goals also matter. Regular cold-water immersion immediately after strength training may modestly reduce muscle growth over time. If building muscle is your priority, consider how cold plunge fits into your training schedule before making it a routine after every lifting session.
Prepare for your visit with swimwear, a towel and dry clothing for afterwards. Before entering, review the equipment instructions and the lounge’s usage rules, including session limits. Keep your towel within reach and leave yourself time to dry off and change.
Cold water can feel intense when you first enter. It can trigger a sudden gasp and increase your breathing rate, heart rate and blood pressure. Take a gradual approach, keep your head above water and never plunge alone. Your first visit should focus on becoming familiar with the experience.
After leaving the water, dry off and change into warm, dry clothing. Cold exposure can continue to affect your body after you get out, so allow time to warm up before moving on with your day. If you have a heart condition or concerns about how cold exposure could affect your health, get medical guidance before participating.
Infrared Sauna
Fan Club offers infrared sauna use before or after training, or on a rest day. You can easily fit this into your fitness routine without adding another location to your day.
At Fan Club’s Recovery Lounge in Houston, infrared sauna offers a place to sit in warmth and unwind after exercise or on a rest day. The sauna is part of our gym near the Galleria and Greenway Plaza.
Infrared panels transfer heat directly to your body, allowing the sauna to operate at lower air temperatures than a traditional sauna. Some people find that warmth more comfortable while still experiencing the heating and sweating associated with sauna use.
Early research suggests infrared sauna may reduce muscle soreness after exercise. In a small study of male basketball players, participants reported less soreness the morning after training when they used an infrared sauna. Larger studies are needed to understand how well those findings apply to other people and workout routines.
During an infrared sauna session, you sit inside a heated cabin while the panels warm your body. You may begin sweating as you heat up. Keep your first session short and follow the equipment instructions, including any session limits.
Drink water before and after your session, and have a towel and dry clothes ready. Give yourself time to cool down and rehydrate after a hard workout before adding more heat. Avoid alcohol before sauna use.
Leave immediately if you feel dizzy or nauseated. Afterward, allow time to cool down before continuing with your day. If you’re pregnant or have a medical condition, speak with your healthcare professional before using the sauna.
Full-Body Red Light Therapy
Red light therapy has been studied for potential improvements in skin texture and fine lines. A controlled study using large-area and full-body light exposure found smoother skin and increased collagen density after a series of treatments.
Results depend on the equipment and treatment schedule, and changes generally take repeated sessions. Research on one system cannot confirm the results you’ll get from another. Follow the recommended schedule for the equipment and keep expectations realistic.
You’ll lie on a padded treatment bed with the light panels positioned above you. The panels direct red light toward the exposed areas of your body while you rest.
Light needs to reach the skin being treated, so clothing affects which areas receive exposure. Follow the equipment’s guidance for skin preparation, body position and session length. Wear the protective eyewear specified for the unit.
If you have a condition that causes light sensitivity or take medication that increases it, speak with your healthcare professional before using red light therapy.

More Ways To Unwind

The optional vibration platform adds movement beneath your feet while you remain standing inside the booth.
Total Body Enhancement is the standing option in Fan Club’s Recovery Lounge in Houston. Light panels surround you inside the booth, and an optional vibration platform adds movement beneath your feet.
The red light therapy bed provides a reclining session on a padded table, with panels positioned above you. Choose the bed if you prefer to lie down. The booth offers a standing session with the option of using the vibration platform.

This seated option uses compression rather than cold water or a heated room. The sleeves connect to a control unit that runs the cycle.
Compression therapy uses air-filled leg sleeves that inflate and release pressure while you sit. Research suggests this type of compression may ease muscle soreness after strenuous exercise, although the size of the benefit varies. Evidence for improvements in strength or exercise performance is less consistent.
Follow the device’s fitting and pressure instructions. Do not use the sleeves if you have a known or suspected blood clot, an active infection or an open wound in the treatment area. If you have a medical condition affecting circulation, get medical guidance before using compression therapy.

The light is directed toward your face while you recline. This is an equipment-based facial offered with massage.
Fan Club offers red, yellow and blue light during facial sessions. Different colors have been studied for different skin concerns:
- Red light: Research has found potential improvements in fine lines and rough skin after repeated treatments.
- Blue light: Used in some treatments for acne pimples. It does not address every type of acne, including blackheads or deep cysts.
- Yellow light: Early research has explored yellow or amber light for facial redness and uneven pigmentation. Evidence remains limited.
You can choose a combination of any two lights or a 20-minute session using all three. The research describes specific devices and treatment schedules, so these findings do not guarantee the same results from every facial-light system. Use the protective eyewear specified for the equipment.
